Ecological assessment on green space
in Seifuushinto, Hiroshima


The green space in urban cities has some functions, these include conservation biodiversity, landscape conservation, carbon dioxide fixation, mitigation of heat island phenomenon. In this research I chose Seifuushinto in Hiroshima city as a research site because it is a model of greenery policy.

In order to increase resident participation which is a recent trend, it is necessary to educate residents so that the environmental law will be applied to various developments. The green space in urban cities has some environmental function. Now few papers have included landscape assessment. So this research focuses on biodiversity conservation and landscape, carbon dioxide fixation to assess urban green spaces.

①The structure of green space, analysis of biodiversity index
・Research green space type (natural green space, semi-natural, artificial)
・Use bio-indicator to assess green spaces
・Actual vegetation, structure, group
→Analyze biodiversity index and mapping in *1GIS

②Carbon dioxide fixation function
・Measure tree height, diameter at the breast height to calculate carbon dioxide fixation for one year. Record the number of individual trees and their position.
・Use GIS(Geographic Information System)and remote sensing data to estimate carbon dioxide fixation per coverage of trees.

③Questionnaire survey of value in Seifuushinto
・Economic assessment
・Ecological service assessment
・Psychological effects assessment
